The Arc Chemung-Schuyler’s Respite Program is a service offered to families who are responsible for the daily care of a loved one with a developmental disability. Caregiving is a demanding job and even the healthiest families need a break. In fact, studies have shown that it is actually healthy. Respite allows the caregiver to attend to their personal needs of socialization and relaxation in order to have a balanced life.
-
We have a home offering waiver-enrolled planned respite, consisting of a one bed, 24-hour, or hourly service.
-
The service is available to individuals starting at age 18.
-
We take pride in providing community inclusion opportunities for our guests. Visitors have the chance to engage in the possibility of various activities including bowling, taking a trip to the mall, going to the movies, fishing, and any other excursion the house has planned during our company’s stay.
-
The respite home provides a comfortable setting in spacious home in which a respite visitor can spend up to 10 consecutive days (a total of 42 days per calendar year), or just a couple of hours during the evening, or weekend. This provides families an opportunity to take some needed planned time and a great opportunity for our visitors to establish friendships, increase socialization skills, and have lots of fun! This is also a great opportunity for families who are considering future, or immediate residential placement to become familiar with our residential programs.
